Therapy Doll: Ex-NYT Editor Carries Obama Doll in Purse to Cope with Trump Presidency

Former NYT Executive Editor Jill Abramson and Barrack Obama

A former executive editor at The New York Times admitted that she carries an Obama doll in her purse to to cope with the Trump presidency.

Jill Abramson wrote in The Guardian that she carries a “little plastic Obama doll” with her until Democrats take back their recent electoral losses in the Senate, House, and Presidency.

“It’s thrilling to see signs of a Trump rebellion,” she wrote, “it could lead to winning control of the House, and maybe the 2020 election”.

But she also admitted to her strange habit of carrying a doll of former president Barrack Obama:

“It’s easy to look at what’s happening in Washington, D.C. and despair. That’s why I carry a little plastic Obama doll in my purse. I pull him out every now and then to remind myself that the United States had a progressive, African American president until very recently. Some people find this strange, but you have to take comfort where you can find it in Donald Trump’s America,” Abramson wrote.
